In previous versions of MU, the character with the highest total Damage was recognized as the one who killed the BOSS and received all the loot. However, starting from the new MUWORLD Season 15 version, the formula for determining the boss killer has changed as follows:
If you fight SOLO, your total Damage dealt will be counted.
If you're in a party, the total Damage is calculated based on the top Damage-dealing characters of different classes.
If a character dies, all accumulated Damage on the monster from that character will be erased.
If in a party, only the top 3 Damage-dealing characters are counted.
-
For example, if 8 players participate in killing Kundun, the result is as follows:
Team A: A SOLO Dark Knight deals a total of 2000 Damage.
Team B: A party of 3 Dark Knights, each dealing 1500 Damage => Since they are of the same class, only the highest Damage from one is counted: 1500 Damage.
Team C: A party of 1 DK, 1 Summoner, 1 MG, and 1 Elf, dealing: 800, 700, 600, 100 respectively => Total of the top 3 highest Damage dealers: 800 + 700 + 600 = 2100 Damage.
-
Result:
Team A: 2000 Damage, accounts for 35%
Team B: 1500 Damage, accounts for 26%
Team C: 2100 Damage, accounts for 39%
-
Then, the system will randomly choose the BOSS killer based on the Damage percentage (e.g., Team C has a 39% chance of claiming the BOSS. Even though they dealt the most total Damage, they can still miss the BOSS). Finally, one member of the winning team will be randomly selected to be credited as the killer, even if it's a buff Elf (to ensure fairness).
Conclusion:
When participating in a boss hunt, make sure to build a proper team with a full variety of classes, including a support class. It's no longer the case that a single powerful character can always claim the BOSS.
Even if you deal a small portion of the total Damage, you still have a chance to win the BOSS. But if you want to secure the kill, you may need to PK all the other boss hunters.
